We proudly announce that the Computational Imaging Group (PI Dr. Alessandro Sbrizzi) has been awarded €500,000 worth of in‑kind support from the Netherlands eScience Center to lead ORACLE (Online Reconstructions for Accelerated MRI Exams), a project set to transform fast, quantitative MRI.
Rather than financial funding, the Netherlands eScience Center contributes its most valuable asset: dedicated Research Software Engineers (RSEs) with deep expertise in high‑performance GPU computing, machine learning, and sustainable scientific software. These RSEs will work side‑by‑side with ORACLE researchers to develop next‑generation algorithms enabling real‑time (<1 minute) MR-STAT reconstructions. ORACLE brings together UMC Utrecht, CWI Amsterdam, Leiden University, and industrial partner Cerebriu. The new software will allow MRI protocols to be optimized while the patient is still in the scanner, reducing exam time, improving diagnostic precision, and enabling greener and more patient‑friendly imaging workflows.
As the national center for innovative digital research, the Netherlands eScience Center empowers scientists through advanced computing and professional RSE expertise, support that is instrumental in realizing the ambitious goals of ORACLE.
